Mother's Day 2013

Mother’s Day 2013

It’s just about that time of year again where we honor the ones who love us despite of fault, nurture us when we are in need, and brought us into this world! That’s right… Mother’s Day 2013!

Each year, I am caught off guard and struggle to find something that will be as special for her as she is to me! This year, I’m going to be prepared… and hopefully will help you prepare as well!

Here are some great Mother’s Day ideas for you to help make your Mom proud! (Some are generic for any location, and some are specifically for Bozeman.) Happy Mother’s Day!

Do you have a mother who loves to escape the world and take a bath? This little Bath Caddy is a super fun gift for Mother’s Day, and is relatively inexpensive! Order ahead of time for $49.95… click on the link above.

Buy her something that says something special. “If I didn’t have you as a Mom, I’d choose you as a friend.” Her heart will melt! See the sign above… here’s where you can find it for just $12.99: Mom2Friend Sign

Should I state the obvious? Women love bouquets!! And not just flowers… anything resembling a bouquet. Be creative and give her a bouquet of cake pops from Cupcake Mountain, cooking utensils, yummy suckers, or one of these great fruit bouquets from EdibleArrangements.com. Check out AvantFloral.com or Labellum Flowers for a unique & contemporary flower arrangement.

Buy her a night with you for cooking classes!  GREAT cooking lessons are available at Olivelle– it’s inexpensive and fun to learn some new dishes that are healthy and tasty. Here’s a list of menu choices and times. Olivelle Cooking Classes

Mothers love to visually see that they have impacted your life. Make a personlized book for her of all the times you, your kids, or your family have shared together! And it’s EASY! You don’t even have to scrapbook– Just visit this website and order a book online. *Upload photos, add text, choose design, etc.*

Buy a notebook, and have your family, kids, or friends fill out a “Why We Love You” Book! They can put pictures in, write quotes, share memories, state small things they love about mom, and more.

Do you have children (specifically little girls) of your own? Nothing is more special to Grandma on Mother’s Day than sharing time with their legacy. Throw her a fancy tea party on Mother’s Day that you all can share! Get out your fancy china, buy a bouquet of flowers, a lace tablecloth, and enjoy a tea party with your Mom and your girls on Mother’s Day.

Who doesn’t love a spa day? Buy a $50.00- $100.00 gift certificate at a local spa, or a gift card for something specific if you know what she’ll love. Even better, buy two and go along for the ride! She’ll love the company. My favorites are “The Loft” in Downtown Bozeman, “Sage Spa”, “The Spa Ridge” and “Canyon River Spa.”

Bozeman, Montana New Years: Things to do!

13 Dec

The New Year is sneaking up on us quickly, (if the end of the world doesn’t happen first on December 21… haha), and I’m sure you’re starting to wonder where you can go in order to bring in the New Year with some style! From fireworks in Big Sky to a straight-up party in Downtown Bozeman, this list should give you a great idea for Celebrating 2013.

2013

1) “A Night in Vienna”: This New Year’s Eve Gala is hosted by the Bozeman Symphony. The Emerson Ballroom will be transformed into a Viennan atmosphere, formal dinner will be served, and Bozeman Symphony performances will be held in the theater. Desserts, dancing and champagne will then be served until the countdown to the New Year! This is a black tie event, so be sure to dress up.

For more information on this event, click here.

2) Plonk Wine Bar: Plonk hosts a fun New Year’s Eve celebration, and is one of the classiest cocktail lounges in Bozeman. Plonk has incredible cocktails, a great environment, and a great staff that will make your 2013 New Year experience something to remember!

3) Santa fe Reds Downtown: Looking for something that’s a bit more up-tempo with dancing, great drinks, loud music and a funky environment? Santa fe Reds holds a great New Year’s bash full of fun and excitement. This crowd will range in ages, but will most likely be a young crowd– so be prepared to get crazy!

4) Bed & breakfast, anyone?  Don’t want a crowd around for the midnight kiss with your significant other? (Wink, wink) Bozeman is full of great “B&B’s” that will provide a private & intimate New Year’s Eve experience. For a list of B&B’s in Bozeman, click here.

5) New Year’s Eve Big Sky Celebration: Each year, Big Sky Ski Resort holds a New Year’s Eve celebration that consists of events all over the resort. This would be a great family style celebration, and will provide lots of fun and activities for all ages. Fireworks, an appearance from the infamous “Grinch”, dinner, drinks and more. For a full list of events, click here.

6) New Year’s Eve Dance at the Emerson: Join the Bozeman Formal Dance Club for ballroom dancing on New Year’s Eve with formal and festive attire! Click here for event details.

7) Themed House Party: A house party is always a good time! Have a house party with close friends and family is a great way to start off the New Year. Even better? Themes! You can do formal attire, bright and tight, ugly sweater, costume, favorite people of 2013, etc. Be creative!

8) Dinner at Top 10: If you’d like to celebrate New Years on New York Time and just go to bed, dinner might be a good way to do it! :) Here is a list of my favorite Top Ten Restaurants in Bozeman.

9) First Night Missoula: First Night Missoula is an annual community New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts. Hundreds of performing, visual and literary artists showcase their diverse talents in more than 100 events throughout Missoula. This spirited, cultural celebration is open to the entire community and is alcohol and drug free. Produced by the Missoula Cultural Council. Click here for more information.

10) New Year’s Celebration Billings: Townsquare Media is putting on the biggest party in Billings for New Years Eve at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana Convention Center. Doors open at 8pm, music by the Bucky Beaver Groundgrippers starts at 9pm.

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEARS! WOOHOOO 2013!

John Mayer & Zac Brown- Benefit Concert in Bozeman!

12 Dec

JohnMayer

Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter John Mayer, who made a home in Paradise Valley this year, will host a concert in Bozeman to benefit those who fought the Pine Creek fire in August.

The Livingston Town Proper: A Concert to Benefit the Fighters of the Pine Creek Fire is slated for Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture’s Crawford Theater. Mayer will be joined onstage by Zac Brown and Clay Cook of the Zac Brown Band, as well as David Ryan Harris. Other performers include Sean Hurley and Aaron Sterling.

The Pine Creek fire sparked Aug. 29 and grew to more than 5,000 acres in a single day. In the end, despite having been sparked in the middle of the little community south of Livingston and burning almost 10,000 acres, only five homes and no lives were lost. According to a release from Vootie Productions, it took hundreds of local firefighters weeks to contain and extinguish the blaze.

“Without the tireless effort and dedication of the firefighters of the Pine Creek fire, many more homes and memories would have been destroyed, mine among them,” Mayer stated in the release.

Premium front-row seat packages will be sold through Tickets-for-Charity for $1,000. These tickets include a meet-and-greet with Mayer and Brown, as well as an autographed poster. The cost includes a donation to the Park County Community Foundation to support local wildfire relief through the Pine Creek Fire Relief Fund. The rest of the tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Dec. 15, through ticketriver.com. They range in price from $100 to $250.

An HD28 Sunburst model Martin guitar autographed by Mayer and Brown will be raffled off to support the Park County Community Foundation fund. The guitar is on display at Music Villa in Bozeman. Raffle tickets are available at the store for $10.

According to Mayer, the concert is a way to give back to the community that has taken him in.

“I wasn’t in town when the fire broke out, and I’ve always wished I could do my part to help, the way so many in the community did,” Mayer stated. “Putting on a concert to raise some money for the departments is the least I can do for a town and a community that has welcomed me with open arms.”
